Made In The Shade Homecoming Thank Yous

Wowee! What a weekend! It may be Monday already, but we're still reeling from the fun we had on Saturday at the Made In The Shade Homecoming. We've received so many kind messages from vendors and customers in response to this weekend's event. We love to hear that you've had a splendid time at Made In The Shade and we love to hear all about your purchases! If you would like to share a story or a photo of your handmade haul, then please get in touch.

As always, we have a number of people we need to thank for helping make the Made In The Shade event swing along hitch-free. Preparations for this season's event were particularly challenging at times and without a whole load of support from a gang of wonderful people, we could have ended up in a real pickle!

Many, many thanks to the staff at The Lighthouse - to Sallyann and Cat in particular. The Lighthouse staff did everything in their power to accomodate us in difficult circumstances and went out of their way to make sure the event went ahead at all. We really, really appreciate that. We'd also like to thank all of our Homecoming vendors for their patience and support when we were struggling to keep the event afloat in light of developments at the venue. Thank you to everyone at the Glasgow DIY Festival, Central Station, The Lighthouse: Renewed, Scottish Craft, The Research Club and other creative organisations that helped us spread the word about the event at such short notice. Muchos gracias! Thanks too to everyone who Facebooked and Tweeted and Myspaced their fingers off to help promote The Homecoming. Of course, special thanks need to be afforded to the 1000+ customers that took the time to come see us and shop handmade!

Thank you to our fabulous volunteers: Davina, Julie, Lynne, Charlotte and Joanne. Y'all did an amazing job and we couldn't have managed without you! Thanks to everyone who contibuted prizes to Flora the Tombola. And, as always, we're grateful to YHFphoto, Prpl Photography and Ken Robertson for documenting the day and allowing us to play our Made In The Shade shopping soundtrack respectively!

We'll see you all again in December for another installment of the Made In The Shade event but remember - we'll also be launching our very first permanent shopping and creative space in October 2009. Keep your peepers peeled on the blog and our social networking profiles for updates and launch party news.

An Autumnal Update

Hello Made In The Shaders,

It's time again for another monster catch up post! We have lots and lots of news to tell you. Brace yourselves...
The next Made In The Shade event

Our next boutique shopping event takes place on Saturday 26th September (that's NEXT weekend!) at The Lighthouse, Glasgow between 10.30am - 5pm. Over 40 fabulous designers and makers and other clever creative people set up shop en masse in an indie shopping celebration of off-beat design, vintage lifestyle and creativity.

Vendor highlights this season include, Lady Luck Rules OK (trendsetting jewellery label all the way from London Town!), Kabloom (originator of the Seedbom product - the best thing to happen to guerilla gardening since someone invented it!) and Natalie Wain (creator of the loveliest textile designs y'all ever did see!)

Stop the Press!

You may have seen Made In The Shade in the press recently. Whoop! We're mentioned in the Head's Up section of this month's issue of The Skinny and our gal Leona Baker of Lady Luck Rules OK was interviewed for a little preview piece in the Sunday Herald. We'll post scans on Flickr as soon as we have 'em organised. Look out for Autumn 2009 Shadette Sarey Poppins in the Evening Times on Saturday and scan the Scotland on Sunday for a little Made In The Shade mention too! If you spot us anywhere else, do let us know: press@wearemadeintheshade.com. Oh! And did I mention that Clare was interviewed by Enterprise Nation this week? Well - she was. The lovely folks at E-Nation are taking a road trip around the UK, documenting the everyday shenanigans of folks who have created their own little homebased industries. Clare and her birdie homewares were featured as a swell example. Other crafty chums are set to appear on the road trip film too - keep your peepers peeled! :o)

The Made In The Shade Maisonette - OPENING SOON!

As y'all know, we've been laying plans to open our very own permanent Made In The Shade home for a while now. Well. It seems all our dreaming and scheming is finally paying off. The Made In The Shade Maisonette will open in the West end of Glasgow this Autumn/Winter! The Made In The Shade Maisonette will be a one-stop shop for all things handmade, beautiful and unusual - not to mention home to our Tiny Gallery and our program of creative and sociable get-togethers. We're in the throes of picking fabulous designers, makers, vintage sellers and other wonderful creative types to be involved in our new venture at the moment. We are working our socks off to ensure that our first collection is mind-blowing! ;o) Visit the blog and our social networking sites regularly for updates on featured designers, new suppliers - and (of course) launch party!

More soon Shaders!

Remember to make friends with us on Myspace, join our group on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!
